Compact Power Supply: smart, flexible, functional

07 August 2025

LÜTZE IS introducing a high-end 2,400-watt power supply to expand its COMPACT series for control cabinets.

What makes this power supply unique is its combination of three freely configurable operating modes, plus extensive parameterisation and monitoring features. Thanks to these features the power supply offers a level of flexibility and functionality that hasn’t been available in this form until now.

The three-phase, switch-mode power supply with active PFC technology features three operating modes that can be set up as needed, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. In Hiccup mode (Overboost), the device provides increased output power for a short time - perfect for handling high inrush currents safely. In current limiting mode, the power supply allows controlled charging of capacitive loads such as SUPERCAP capacitors in no time at all. It can also be used as a smart charger for different battery technologies, including lead, nickel or lithium systems.

The integrated wide-range input with 3 x AC 400–500 V (340–550 V) or DC 520–750 V makes it suitable for worldwide use. With a power boost of 150% for up to five seconds, an efficiency of over 92% and active inrush current limiting below 12.5 A, this unit meets the highest demands for energy efficiency and network compatibility. Features like line length compensation (Sense), plus parallel and redundancy operation using the built-in share function, make it ideal for challenging industrial environments. The power supply is available in three versions with rated voltages of DC 24 V (11.9–29 V), DC 48 V (23–56 V) and DC 72 V (50–87 V).

The 2,400-watt power supply can be parameterised as needed, either directly using the function keys on the integrated display, or even more conveniently with the free "Powermaster" configuration software. You can set up things like alarm functions, remote shutdown, temperature monitoring, maximum output current, operation with two or three phases, and a variety of recording functions. All parameters can be read from or written to the device and saved as configuration files for future use or replication.

The integrated logging and storage features make troubleshooting much easier. There’s also a relay contact for outputting fault messages, and the output current is continuously provided as a standard signal (4–20 mA or 0–10 V). All relevant operating data, such as input and output voltage, output current, output power and both internal and external temperatures, are stored in the device, can be viewed on the display or via the software, and exported in Excel format. Two relay outputs allow targeted signaling of critical operating conditions.

The new internal fan architecture makes the device significantly more compact compared to other similar power supplies, especially when it comes to installation depth. Clearly structured terminal labelling for EPLAN support, plus an integrated QR code linking to the product page, make it easy to integrate the unit into your control cabinet.
